AIG Life supports bereaved children with Winston’s Wish alliance.

Anyone with children who makes a call to claim, due to death or terminal illness on an AIG Life Policy will have the added comfort of access to bereavement support if they choose.

Winston’s Wish is the UK’s first childhood bereavement charity. They have been supporting bereaved children since 1992 and continue to lead the way in providing specialist child bereavement support services across the UK.

How Winston’s wish can help

Winston’s Wish offers practical support and guidance to bereaved children, young people and their families. To use this service, Winston’s Wish needs to be provided with the relevant AIG policy details.

The new added-value service will be dependant upon the individual’s needs. Support includes in-depth therapeutic support in individual, group and residential settings. As well as a Freephone National Helpline, training for professionals and specialist publications.

What AIG say

Commenting on the alliance, Steve Casey, Head of Marketing and Propositions, AIG Life said:

“This partnership is one that we are very proud to include in our policies. Whether it’s a sudden death or a more chronic illness, the remaining parent or guardian is often so struck by their own grief that supporting their grieving children in an effective way can seem entirely overwhelming. Winston’s Wish can now pass on their guidance and expertise to the families of AIG Life customers to help them rebuild their lives for a positive future.”

What Winston’s wish say

Catherine Ind, Chief Executive Officer of Winston’s Wish added:

“Many people may not know that there is assistance and bereavement support specifically for children. Children can grieve in an altogether different way to adults. They may face a powerful range of confusing and conflicting emotions. Which, if bottled up, can affect their schoolwork, relationships and self-esteem. By linking directly with AIG Life, we will be able to reach out to more children and young people who have been bereaved.”

Winton’s Wish supports 20,000 children in the UK every year.

The partnership with Winston’s Wish follows shortly after AIG Life extended their partnership with Best Doctors, providing term assurance customers with a second medical opinion as part of their policy, earlier this year.
