Can I Get Life Insurance having had Deep Vein Thrombosis (DVT)?

Our client contacted us wanting to review their requirements for protection and potentially look into longer running policy options.

After discussing their needs and current situation, it was concluded that their existing policy was suitable for their needs in terms of how long the cover runs for. However, the sum assured was much less than suggested because the client’s existing policy’s premiums had been loaded, because in 2011 he had Deep Vein Thrombosis which progressed into a Pulmonary Embolism.

After contacting the whole of the insurance market, we concluded that a lot of insurers will increase the premium quoted by between 50 and 150%, however one insurer was able to offer the cover on standard rates with no premium increases at all.

Pre-Underwriting to determine the Best Terms possible

This allowed the client to be able to increase the sum insured to a more suitable figure whilst maintaining a premium which remains affordable.
