St James’s Place Protection Planning, part of St. James’s Place Wealth Management plc, the UK’s largest financial services advisory firm, is looking for a Key account manager.

In November 2018, Future Proof was acquired by St. James’s Place Wealth Management plc. Both St. James’s Place Protection Planning (SJPPP) and Future Proof sit under the same umbrella of St. James’s Place Wealth Management plc.

The purpose of this new role

The primary focus of this role is to raise awareness of and increase the use of the St. James’s Place Protection Planning (SJPPP) referral service by Partners.

To ensure that SJPPP is receiving enough referrals from SJP Partners and advisers to hit the SJPPP business plan.

To ensure referrals are of sufficient quality to achieve a high conversion rate.

Key responsibilities of the role:

Business Development

  • To understand the SJP location structure and Partner models including the different types, their distribution, how they interact with each other and with the Protection market
  • To promote SJP PP within the SJP Field Management Team through ongoing upskilling of SJP PDM’s regarding Protection and the referral service
  • To develop and successfully deliver presentations, workshops and 1-2-1 bespoke training, both directly to the Partnership and via the Field Management Team
  • To effectively develop new referral relationships with Partners and Advisers
  • To develop existing Partner relationships to nurture and maintain a steady referral flow

Nature and scope of responsibilities

  • To ensure the successful delivery of the SJP PP business plan
  • To secure referrals from Partners by engaging with them face to face, on the telephone, via email and through Webinar tools
  • To develop ideas and support material for engaging with Partners, including sales ideas, to help them raise protection with their clients more often
  • To develop and follow the contact model for the account management of SJP Areas, Locations and Partners
  • To record Partner information in the CRM in a uniform and clear way so as to build clear profiles
  • To work closely with others in the team to coordinate efforts and share ideas
  • To understand the SJPPP Advisers and Support Staff processes
  • To effectively work with Advisers and Support Staff in delivering a smooth handover of referrals and enquiries made by Partners
  • Be aware of and assist in control of costs and budget
  • Be aware of and manage Data Security risks
  • Ad hoc project work as required

Skills and Knowledge

  • A minimum of 2 years’ experience in the Protection Industry

Key competencies and behaviours

  • A minimum of 2 years’ experience in the Protection Industry
  • Ideally, you will have a good working knowledge of the St. James’s Place Partnership structure and culture
  • A strong track record of creating and developing mutually profitable business relationships
  • Negotiation skills and ability to influence others
  • Energetic, enthusiastic, proactive
  • Organised and methodical, possessing strong administration skills and able to work independently
  • An effective communicator, both verbally and written
  • Driven, results orientated and with a positive outlook
  • Ensures that personal skills and knowledge levels are kept up to date and improved on an ongoing basis, in order to perform the tasks and functions of the role
  • Learns new skills and best practice to develop the Partnership
