How Many Claims Were Paid By Cirencester Friendly in 2020?

Individual income protection provider Cirencester Friendly paid 94% of claims in 2020. This totalled £7.8 million in payouts to its Members.
In 2020, a total of 1,434 claim applications were made, 98.3% of which were eligible for consideration. This resulted in 1,255 claims being considered and 94% of these were paid.

The primary reasons for claims being rejected were:
• Inability to provide proof of earnings
• Inability to provide medical evidence
• No loss of earnings
• Not disclosing pre-existing conditions at the application stage

Most common reasons for income protection claim:

• Accidents and injuries (29.9%)
• Covid-19 (15.5%)

Meanwhile, other claims listed included: depression, cancer, heart, or circulatory complications as well as back, neck and shoulder problems.

Financial support

Paul Hudson, chief executive at Cirencester Friendly, commented: “The acid test for any income protection contract is will it pay out when the customer makes a claim?
