Can I get Insurance following a past Subdural Hematoma?
Our process
When a client has a pre-existing condition, or has suffered a serious illness in the past, the first thing we do is pick up the phone. We speak to Underwriters at many of the UK’s leading Insurance companies. Discussing all of our client’s medical history helps us to identify the best company to apply to. This also means we avoid applying to companies who will end up being too expensive or worse, decline an application. By completing our research thoroughly, we are able to avoid wasting time and obtain the best terms possible for our clients.

We were contacted by Mr D, a 31 year old non-smoker as he had recently bought his first house with his wife.
His wife has substantial benefits including life insurance and 6 months sick pay through her employer but Mr D is self-employed as a carpenter.
He wanted to arrange a life and critical illness policy to ensure that funds are available to repay the mortgage should he suffer a serious medical condition or pass away.
Mr D had applied for a policy through his mortgage broker but was shocked to be told that the Insurance Provider had declined to offer the cover. The Insurance Company advised that they were not currently able to offer the insurance because Mr D had suffered a head injury following a car accident two years previously. A CT scan showed that he had suffered a Subdural haematoma.
The Insurance Company didn’t refuse to offer insurance completely but advised that they would want Mr D to wait for at least another year before re- applying. Mr D had made a full recovery following two days in hospital after the accident and was fully discharged by the Consultant 2 weeks later.
The Outcome
We contacted the various Insurance Providers and Mr D was pleased when we were immediately able to provide one of the most comprehensive Critical Illness policies available offering a sum assured of £170,000 over a term of 23 years for a premium of £40.15 a month.
Please note that any premiums mentioned are indicative only and based on this specific case study/ example, which is shown for information purposes only. Your own circumstances will determine whether the amount payable is more or less than the figure quoted.
