Our process

When a client has a pre-existing condition, or has suffered a serious illness in the past, the first thing we do is pick up the phone. We speak to Underwriters at many of the UK’s leading Insurance companies. Discussing all of our client’s medical history helps us to identify the best company to apply to. This also means we avoid applying to companies who will end up being too expensive or worse, decline an application. By completing our research thoroughly, we are able to avoid wasting time and obtain the best terms possible for our clients.

Our client

Mr F, a 55 year old non-smoker contacted us to review his family protection, so that he could provide adequate cover for his family over a much longer term.

Mr F works as a Ship Maintenance Engineer in the North sea for one month at a time and then returns to the UK on leave. In total he works no more than 6 months in any one year.

The Outcome

Each insurer has their own underwriting guidelines and we contacted them all to find the best solution. A number of insurers would increase the cost of the original quoted price owing to the risk involved with the location and nature of his work. However, we found a company that were able to offer cover at standard rates.

Mr F, was pleased that we were able to arrange Level term Insurance of £60,000 ( on an indexed linked basis)  to age 90 and Whole of Life insurance for a monthly premium of £53.50.
